Why is it rare to have long movies in the USA? Also on DVD? A culture thing? A stereotype? I wondered,ideas?

Two hours is the standard for american movies. If you go over that, you better have the next Godfather or Goodfellas. European movies have more dialogue, that is why they are longer.
