What can I expect when I go to El Salvador this summer? Any places I should or should not go?

In June, I am going to El Salvador to visit my husband for two months. He lives about 15-20 mins away from the airport, and as we speak he is building a house for us to live in so that we don't have to be separate like this anymore. This will be my first time ever on an airplane, and the first time ever leaving the country. What should I expect at the airports? Will I get lost at the airport in El Salvador, how can he find me? I only know a little tiny bit of Spanish, so I don't know what to do if I need help or anything. Are there places that I should go to and places I should avoid? Any suggestions in particular about this trip? Any advice would be nice.
