Does Captain Kirk keep and read actual paper books?

I vaguely remember some scene from one of the star trek films (or perhaps tv series?) where Kirk (or perhaps Picard?) has this quirk of keeping a few old style paper books around for reading. He liked their smell, solidity, or something like that? Where is that scene?
